About The Neighborhood
Although most Statesman residents do their major shopping (for clothing, furniture, and the like) outside the neighborhood, you can find most of life’s essentials, and some of its non-essentials, within walking distance or a short drive. Here is an admittedly selective list of what’s nearby. All area codes are 773.
Automotive:
Broadway, a few blocks west of the Statesman, has a variety of automotive repair and body shops. One deserving of mention is Foster and Broadway Marathon (5156 N. Broadway; 728-8926). This is that 21st century rarity—a gas station that does repairs—and, better yet, the mechanics are on duty seven days a week. It’s thus a handy place to keep in mind if you need repairs on the weekend.
